Parking Enforcement Officers are responsible to ensure public safety, maintain traffic flow requirements as directed by signage and enforce the general rules of the road under legislation of the Motor Vehicle Act, HRM By-law P-500 and the HRM Winter Parking Regulations.

Parking Ticket Payments

The following options are available to pay your parking tickets.

Option 1 - Payment made before court date:

By phone:  Credit card payments only

Call 311 or toll free 1-800-835-6428 (in NS only). Payments accepted 7:00 am - 11:00 pm, 7 days a week. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

In person: 

Payable at any HRM Citizen Contact Centre - 8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays, by cash, cheque, debit or credit card.

By Mail:

Do not send cash through the mail.  Cheques or money orders to be made out to the Halifax Regional Municipality.  Please note your ticket number on the cheque or money.

Incomplete or incorrect payment does not settle a ticket and may not be accepted.

Option 2  - Payment made on or after court date:

Must be made to the Provincial Court.  See penalty details on the front of the ticket for payment amount.  Provincial Court (902) 424-8718

Option 3 - Appear in court:

You will receive a Summons by mail.  This Summons will indicate the date, time and place to appear in court.  NOTE:  Your first appearance will be to enter a plea only.

NOTE:  If you do not pay this penalty by the court date or do not appear in court as directed by the Summons, the Justice will enter a conviction in your absence resulting in a fine.  The Registrar of Motor Vehicles may not allow you to renew your license or vehicle permit until the the fine is paid.  A fee in addition to the fine may be applied by the Registrar of Motor Vehicles.
